REGULAR MEETING

The Leisure Services Advisory Board held a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 in the Lynn Haven Library.

Michael Wittkopf called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.

The minutes from January 18, 2005 were submitted for approval:

Item # 3 Audience Participation:
Commissioner Frances Wittkopf was in attendance.
Item # 4 Kinsaul Park:
Continuous progress is being made at Kinsaul Park. The restrooms are being completed now. Palm trees have been added to enhance the appearance of the area. Pilings have been placed at the location for the gazebo. The football/soccer field will be completed at a later time. We are waiting on West Fla. Water management to give the go ahead as to when and how we can continue with the ball fields.
Item # 5 Urban Forestry Grant VII & VIII:
Phase VII is complete with the planting of 102 trees in the North Ridge area. Phase VIII is continuing in the same area.
Item # 6: Citizen of the Year:
A Citizen of the Year Committee met and voted on the nominations for Citizen of the Year. Walter Woodrick was voted as Citizen of the Year and James Finch was voted to receive a special award for "Community Service".
Item #7 Founder's Day:
Founder's Day will be celebrated on May 7, 2005. This year the festivities will be held on Florida Avenue. This year the City will include a parade for Founder's Day. The parade will travel down Hwy 77. Food, arts and crafts will be located at Florida Ave. The fish fry will be sponsored by Tillman Investments and the American Legion will prepare it.
Item # 8 Tree City USA:
The City has been recognized as Tree City USA. This will mark the 7th year in a row that the City has earned this prestigious award.
Item #9 Walking Track Lighting: Cain Griffin:
The projected completion date for the Lighting at Cain Griffin is the end of April We are on schedule and should meet this deadline
Item #10 Operation Cinderella:
The beautification of Lynn Haven is an ongoing process. The Panama City Garden Club hosts a program called Operation Cinderella. The City of Lynn Haven has been recognized and given the Operation Cinderella award for the year 2004. This award recognizes all of the efforts to beautify Lynn Haven.
Item # 11 Announcements:
The board had an open discussion regarding the addition of a playground near the t-ball and AA field as well as redeveloping the beach volleyball area located at the complex. The board further discussed signage to the Complex.
Item #12 Public Commentary:
There was no further business to discuss and the meeting was adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
