History
Hello. My name is Joseph Ashbrook and I have lived in Lynn Haven for the
past seventeen years. Prior to moving to Lynn Haven, my family lived in the
Brookforest area just outside of Lynn Haven. I have been a resident here in
Bay County for over fifty years.
My wife Connie was born, raised, and lived here in Bay County her entire life.
We have two adult married children. Our son Justin and daughter Brianne along
with their spouses have blessed us with three grandsons and one granddaughter.
My wife and I worship at Heritage Bible Church, an affiliate of the Christian
Missionary Alliance (CMA).
During the past thirty years or so I have worked in the general and commercial
insurance industry as an independent agent. I was a former owner of an agency
founded in 1936 by my wife's family, The Merriam Insurance Agency. At the
present time I am an independent commercial insurance broker with Fisher-Brown
Insurance. I also am licensed as a Florida realtor.
My first elected office is the one that I now hold as City Commissioner Seat 4
here in Lynn Haven, Florida. I am enthusiastic about government at such a local
level and feel honored to have been elected by the citizens of Lynn Haven. While
decisions cannot be made that please all parties, they should be based on wise
and sound judgment. Integrity must be the foundation for all decisions. I have
a great affection for the character and Southern personality of Lynn Haven.
While I have traveled a great deal, it is always a comfort to come back home to
Lynn Haven. Perhaps the greatest challenge to our community is the inevitable
growth and how we manage that growth. We see this each and every year.
Lynn Haven has consistently had a sense of civility within the workings of the commissioners,
the mayor, and all city staff. My hope is that it would continue during my tenure.
Disagreement presented honestly, tactfully, and factually can be quite useful.
May God bless our families, our community, and those things we hold so dear.
