Joseph Ashbrook
Commissioner

“While decisions cannot be made that please all parties, they should be based on wise and sound judgment. Integrity must be the foundation for all decisions.”

A Bay County resident of more than 55 years, Commissioner Joseph Ashbrook has lived in Lynn Haven and served its residents for 19 years. His dedication to the community extends past his role as City Commissioner and into organizational endeavors. Over the years, he has been active as a member of the Bay County and Beaches Chamber of Commerce, the Military Affairs Committee, Bay County Independent Agents, and the Northside Rotary. He was elected to the City Commission in April 2007.

Ashbrook received his bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida before working in the commercial insurance industry. As a former owner of Merriam Insurance, an agency founded by his wife’s family in 1936, he handled commercial property and casualty insurance for more than thirty years. He currently works as an independent commercial insurance broker with Fisher-Brown, Inc., and is also a licensed Florida REALTOR®.

Outside of work, Commissioner Ashbrook and his wife, Connie, enjoy worshipping at Heritage Bible Church, an affiliate of the Christian Missionary Alliance (CMA). He enjoys golf, boating and occasional travel as well. They have two children, both married, as well as four grandchildren.
