Roger P. Schad - Commissioner “I firmly believe that if you want to learn what the needs are within your community, get involved in the various civic organizations and make an active contribution.”

Commissioner Roger Schad has called Bay County home since 1983 and moved to Lynn Haven in 1992. In the past 25 years, he has served Bay County through various leadership and civic roles. Schad retired as executive vice president of Florida First Bank (formerly First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Panama City) in 1995 and is currently serving in his third term as commissioner. He was elected in 1997.

Mr. Schad is a former president of the Lynn Haven Rotary Club; board member of the Bay County Small Business Incubator and of Peoples’ First Prime 55 Advisory Board; member of the Advisory Council of Haney Technical Center and a certified S.C.O.R.E. (Service Corp of Retired Executives) counselor. Additionally, he founded the Lynn Haven Summer Concert series and continues to secure private funding to maintain it.

Before moving to Bay County, Mr. Schad received his bachelor’s degree in education from Auburn University and a master’s degree in business from the University of Richmond. He served in the U.S. Army for two years, performing psychological testing at Armed Forces Induction Stations, before dedicating 42 years to the financial industry and almost as many years to public service.
