LYNN HAVEN CPR & AED Certification

Lynn Haven, Florida, January 23, 2018– CPR & AED CERTIFICATION

The City of Lynn Haven employees underwent extensive CPR/AED training during the month of January. The American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED course was taught by Chief DeLonjay and Captain Hernandez of Lynn Haven Fire & Emergency Services.  Employees learned how to recognize common life-threatening emergencies and gained important life-saving skills.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is highly effective training and good to have in any situation where there is an emergency.  When a person stops breathing, or their heart stops beating effectively, CPR is then applied, (hopefully by a trained individual).  This lifesaving technique is used to restore oxygenated blood flow to the vital organs.  Automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device which automatically diagnoses the pattern of the heart beat and determines whether or not it needs to be shocked in order to beat and pump blood normally again.

“Thanks to Mr. White’s newly enacted employee safety and training initiative, our goal was to teach everyone to act in an emergency.  Sometimes, people do not act because of lack of training and fear of doing something wrong.  Recognizing something is wrong, dialing 9-1-1 and if necessary giving CPR and/or using an AED until someone with more advanced training arrives will help improve safety for all”, stated Chief DeLonjay.

“CPR combined with 911 is critical for survival for someone experiencing cardiac arrest.  In general, the better we have our employees trained to deal with emergency events, the better off all the citizens of Lynn Haven will be protected”, said City Manager, Mr. White.

We are very happy to say that ALL (100%) of the City of Lynn Haven employees are certified in both CPR & AED.
