Jerry Lucante receives his award for Supervisor of the Quarter, October - December 2007

Jerry Lucante Supervisor of the quarter - October to December 2007

Jerry LuCante has been employed by the City since January 15, 1988. He started his employment as a garbage collector, transitioned to meter reader and finally to truck driver before being assigned as Fleet Maintenance Supervisor in May, 1998.

In this capacity, Jerry is responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of over 160 pieces of equipment ranging from police cars, fire trucks, garbage trucks, trash trucks, pickup trucks and backup diesel generators.

Jerry shines with his organizational skills and his tenacity. When the rear camera monitor on our newest garbage truck failed, he obtained a replacement from the truck manufacturer for the cost of $ 1,475.60. After a check of his records, he discovered that this part was under warranty by three days and received a full refund. A few months ago, a police car was towed to the dealership with a cracked intake manifold. Even though the vehicle was out of warranty bye 1,600 miles, Jerry argued until he received an 80% discount on what would have been a $616.50 repair bill.

Jerry is a creative employee who continually looks for ways to make expeditious repairs at the lowest possible cost. He is truly deserving of Lynn Haven Supervisor of the Quarter.
