CHIPLEY, Fla. –The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin work Wednesday, July 7 to resurface State Road (S.R.) 390 (East 14th Street) from east of S.R. 77 (Ohio Avenue) to U.S. 231 in Bay County.

Improvements along the four-mile project include adding new left turn lanes at Britton Road and Harvard Road, adding new turn lanes at Titus Road, and extending westbound right turn lanes at County Road (C.R.) 389 (East Avenue) and Mill Bayou Boulevard. Additional improvements include adding a new pedestrian signal at C.R. 389 (East Avenue) and adding pedestrian features at Mill Bayou Boulevard/Cato Road to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Side street drainage system improvements and minor sidewalk repairs will also be completed.

No lane closures will occur from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Daytime work on S.R. 390 is not anticipated to affect traffic. Side streets in the area may be impacted by intermittent nighttime lane closures. This S.R. 390 resurfacing project will bring the former county road up to current state road standards. Work is scheduled to be completed spring 2023.

All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are reminded to pay attention to the speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone.
